Photoimpact 12 available for download from UK site
Photoimpact 12 is now available to download from the UK Ulead site. You can also pre-order the boxed version. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any information on what is new and what has been improved in the new version, so if anyone has any further info I would welcome it

Yeah, the dirty SOB's announced this 2 days after I bought PI11. I have sent them an E-mail (which I expect will be ignored) and will call them Monday.
I am not happy about having a piece of software that is obsolete even before I get it in the mail. If they are unsympathetic, I will just refuse delivery and dispute the CC charge.
Anyways, below is what they list as the differences.
Sorry for the bad formatting but I am too tired to do anything but a C/P.

Based on that info I'm surely not hurrying to get it. Why do you need to have the latest? I was quite happy to use PI 10 a long time after PI 11 was released and only went to PI 11 for it's better RAW support after the initial bugs were fixed, not that they needed fixing on my machine. I'm also quite happy with MSP 7.3 and MF4 DC.

Would you care to share the link to this information with us. I have looked at the Ulead UK site and can see no sign or mention of PhotoImpact 12.Kaledi wrote:Photoimpact 12 is now available to download from the UK Ulead site. Maybe you need to "Refresh" your browser, Steve - I just saw it there myself.

Robert,
Thanks for the link. I guess you got it from the monthly newsletter because it definately doesnt show up on the Ulead UK Site
http://www.ulead.co.uk/runme.htm
I tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer and refreshed both.
I accept the link you have given does indeed confirm the existance of a Pre-Order copy of PhotoImpact 12. This is the same situation that occured just before MovieFactory 5+ got released.
Perhaps I will get my monthly newsletter in the next day or so as it hasn't arrived in my Email system yet.
Looking on a positive side to all of this, it does tend to show that despite the recent amalgamations with Intervideo and Corel, it appears that the new owners are supporting PhotoImpact at this moment in time.

Groan, I was looking down the left column 'Featured Products' and also the centre column 'Global News and Events' plus the PhotoImpact page
http://www.ulead.co.uk/pi/runme.htm.
Yep, it's there just where you said it was.
Personal reminder: I must go out and get that guide dog before I get run over crossing the road.

Well of course I don’t need it. The primary reason is I feel deceived.
A simple “Get a discount on PI11 in celebration of the upcoming PI12 release” and I wouldn’t be upset at all.
My E-mails to Ulead went unanswered that is why I joined up and posted in this forum initially.
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=17018
Obviously this new release caught us all off guard, although if you look at my initial post you will see I stated they historically have released in September.
The pluses of getting 11 are since it has been out awhile the major bugs should be worked out of it, I hope.
On the other hand, by purchasing it 2 days before they announced 12, I:
- Lose at least a year on the upgrade path.
- Most likely could have purchased 11 within a very short time for a fraction of what I paid.
Since it was only $40 it’s not I’m out a ton of money. But you will find I am very sensitive when it comes to shady business practices.
Providing they respond, I’ll see what they tell me before I get too upset. My guess is “Sorry pal, you’re out of luck”. I've always been a huge fan and promoter of ULead products. In addition to PI I own and use Video Studio, Movie Factory and Cool3d.

Well, I "stuck to my guns" and when I said if Ulead didn't fix Smart Download I would purchase Photoshop (which I did), so this thread doesn't grab me like it would have while back. I must have 6 or 7 versions of PI from 4 through 11.
I'm a bit confused though, didn't Corel purchase Ulead? Doesn't seem to be a very good move to offer PI12 this way.

1. In my experience Europe usually gets PI updates before North America.
2. Pre-notices are common throughout the industry, not just with Ulead. I get at least 5-6 a month from one company or another. Uleads last one was for VideoStudio 10+.
3. Recent purchasers of PI-11 should contact Ulead and see if they can get an adjustment/upgrade before throwing tantrums. If you can't get one that's the time for a tantrum. Doing otherwise is, to my midwestern sensibilities, bad manners.
4. Sept. 30 in the US.

Since the below is obviously aimed at me, I'll offer a quick comment.
"3. Recent purchasers of PI-11 should contact Ulead and see if they can get an adjustment/upgrade before throwing tantrums. If you can't get one that's the time for a tantrum. Doing otherwise is, to my midwestern sensibilities, bad manners. "
I too am from the Heartland (a few hundred miles south of you actually). I'll admit I was *very* irritated when the E-mail came be-boppin into my mailbox and that may have been reflected in my previous venting. If it offended anyone, my apologies.
I'm giving them a chance on this issue, but again, I E-mailed them twice before I bought PI11 to see if they could give me some insight into the release of PI12. My requests were met with silence as I expect my latest E-mail to be, but we shall see.
