audio pops and cracks when inserting MPEG file

Post by stannmaple »

I'm completely lost. I have a few clips which I rendered seperately to MPEG-2. I now want to bring them all on the timeline and render them as one big MPEG-2 file. When I bring the clips in, however, the audio cracks and pops like crazy! They play fine in windows media player and even when I play it in Video Studio 10 from the library, it plays great, but when I drag it down to the timeline it's all cracks and pops. I tried creating a file with it and cracks and pops came along for the ride. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

What is your audio format on these files?

And what audio device are you using; embedded on the mainboard or an audio card? What chipset on the mainboard, if known? If not knowm the brand/model of the mainboard would be helpful.

Hint: all of this should be in your system specs, but isn't :P

When you say you create a file do you mean simply saving the project or rendering a Videofile according to the recommended procedure? I have a similar problem when am working on a project but when I create a Videofile then the problems no longer are there. I then make a burn with the Videofiles and the DVDs don't have that problem also.

Here was my initial posting on this topic entitled "Audio problem when in timeline mode" in case you care to read it.

Hey guys,
Yeah, sorry, I didn't really give you enough info there. I was up all night taking the original project and re-rendering it to AVI then re-rendering the whole thing to MPEG-2. That seemed to work. I'm sure there was an easier way, but I have a deadline with this video (tomorrow) so that will work for now. To be honest, I don't know a lot about my hardware as far as the audio, so I'm not much help. Thanks for taking the time to write though, if I have the problem again, I'll find out what hardware I've got and get back to you. Thanks again
