In working in VS10+ last night, I discovered an interesting "workaround" to a desire that I have always had. I've always wanted to have a "hot spot" for the words "Play Movie" instead of clicking on the play navigation button in the main menu. This feature resembles more closely the commercial DVD movies that you buy. But VS10+ does not provide extra hot spots, only one provided for each video file in the media clip timeline. The text hot spot that comes with each video file, I use to describe the video file or the associated thumbnail. But last night I figured out a way to provide the extra hot spot and have it work. I don't know if anyone else in this forum has already figured out a way to accomplish this or not, or if anyone else besides myself has the desire for this feature, but I thought I would share my findings with anyone who has such an interest.
What you do is create a 2 second black color clip (or whatever length you desire) in the video editor in a separate vsp file, render it in Share|Create Video File, and add this short mpeg2 file to the media file timeline of your main project's burner module. Place this clip as the first video file in the timeline. VS10+ will provide you with the hot spot in the main menu, change the name of the hot spot to "Play Movie". Hide the "play" navigation button. Now when you click on the "Play Movie" hot spot, it will play the movie starting at the very beginning, which is your 2 second black color clip, which will act like a standard "fade-in-from-black" transition, and will play seamlessly into your first main video file.
Hope it helps someone else, as well.
