I hope I can explain this correctly.
I have video of someone preaching and some people listening. In between is me panning from preacher to audience trying to get everything.
What I'd like to do is this....transition between preacher and audience shots while keeping the audio synced with his lips and the background sounds...and cut out all of the lame panning....
Any good way people are doing this?
thanks,
bob
How to keeps sound synced with several cuts?

From your description I assume it is all one clip. If so, this is one way to do it:
1. Cut your clip (using the scissors), separating the preacher and audience parts. Keep all the parts, do not delete. By doing it this way you are not removing anything, just separating it into pieces. Therefore, the sound will stay in sync because you haven't really changed anything.
2. Put all your clips in the main timeline.
3. Now put your cutaway clips of the audience in the overlay track as necessary and mute them.
4. Since you panned, you will have that second or two that is "in between" the preacher and audience. My thought would be to slow down the speed of the audience clips in the overlay track to make up that difference. I don't think it would be noticable.
