The titles in the preview appear to have good quality, however when I render and create the DVD video, the titles look terrible, e.g., they are blurred and appear to be composed of small faded blocks (like enlarged pixels).. I checked previous posts and added shadows and outlines, but the result is still just as poor. I'm surprised at this result, given the high quality of everything else that VS8 does. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. BTW, could it be that using larger font sizes or non-TT fonts causes the problem? Are there any fonts and font sizes that others use that give high quality results? Thanks in advance.

Anti-Flicker
do you have "Anti Flicker" turned on? If so, try it without the "Anti Flicker" option.

Thanks for the follow-ups. After spending the better part of 3 days trying to solve this problem myself by reading and trying all of the documentation on the Ulead site and posting messages on the board, I finally called Ulead Technical Support.
I was disappointed when told by Tech Support that blurred titles in VS8 are a known issue and nothing can be done about it. This didn't sound right since apparently other VS8 users on the message board had somehow had success creating videos with clear titles and it wouldn't make sense to market a product with a title-creating feature that consistently produced such poor quality text. I'm guessing that the Tech rep was referring to a much more minor level of blurring than I was seeing. Anyway, I asked a couple of more questions about some of the settings and noted that the max data rate on VS8 is 8200, while the rate on the particular video I am working with was showing 9554.
As an experiment, I changed the rate to 8000 and, lo and behold, the titles are now clear and crisp. I'm not sure if this particular change was the only factor, since I had changed so many other settings alone the way, but I suspect that was it. I'm just happy now that VS8 is working the way I expected it to. I like this product and have many video projects lined up in the near future.
Again, thanks for the responses and I hope that this data rate factor may help someone else down the road who experiences a similar problem.
