Post by Lanshire »

Hey Guys, I have a bunch of User made Game Videos that i used in making using fraps (Mainly Red faction, and UT 2004 with the mars wars mod) any how i have like 5.35 GB of vids sitting on my desktop. I have the latest patch for DVDMF 4.0 and i have been unable to Burn anything on Dual layer DVD, it gets about half way to multi-plexing or Burning ( i forget which one) and then i get an error ( i dont remember what the error is either). Could some of yall post error messanges so i might Try to remmebr which one it is, as it takes SOOOO lOOOOOng to make that disk?

I can make a regualar dvd fine.

The first thing to do is to try writing the DVD folders to your hard drive, instead of burning an actual DVD. That will tell you if you really have a burning problem, or some sort of conversion/rendering problem: On the Burn screen, un-check the box that says Record To Disc and check the box that says Create DVD Folders.

It's very likely that one or more of your video files is corrupt, or in a highly-compressed "troublesome" format. (A corrupt file will often play OK, but cause trouble when you try to re-code it.)
...any how i have like 5.35 GB of vids sitting on my desktop.
What format are those "vids"? Unless they are DVD compatable MPEG-2s, that 5.35GB file-size has no relationship to the space required on a DVD.
...as it takes SOOOO lOOOOOng to make that disk?
Are your files DivX? A special 'frap' format? If so, you may need to find a 3rd-party utility to convert them to standard DV or MPEG with DVD compatable resolution, framerate, and bitrate, before importing them into Movie Factory.

No! Do you think we know all of the error messages? And, nobody here knows what the error code-numbers mean... This is a user-to-user board and that's a Ulead secret. (I'm only a moderator... I'm not a Ulead employee, so I don't know what those codes mean.)

I guess i can convert them thru Ulead for Mpeg-2 and try that... never thought of it that way./.

 Sorry. I didn't read your post carefully. After I re-read it, I took out the question.

Yeah, that's going to cause you trouble. Every time somebody complains about it taking 10-12 hours to render, it's a good bet they are using DivX or Xvid. I've had trouble with some WMV files, and I've even sometimes had trouble with MPEGs when I edited them. The most trouble-free format is AVI/DV (13GB per hour). AVI is a container or wrapper format. It can contain DV, MPEG, DivX, etc., and it has a code in the file header that tells your program what codec to use. So, AVI/DV = good, AVI/Divx = bad (when it comes to making DVDs with Ulead software.)

You are probably going to need a 3rd-party program for that, since Ulead is having trouble with these formats. There is a free program called SUPER that can convert almost any format to MPEG-2, but I don't think it can convert to the preferred DV format.
