Impact Question

Post by lemerich »

I can't seem to get to the Ulead site so I'll ask here. I tried the download verrsion of Impact 11 and had install problems. After 3 weeks, I finally got the demo disk and all seems to work OK. Does anyone know if I can register and activate it from the trial disk, or do I have to go to the site and buy it? At this point I can't do either. Also, does the putchased version come with a manual or is that on the disk. Thanks

I have never bought a disk from Ulead and hence don't know for sure, but from statements made by others here, I think, the manual should be on the disk.

Concerning the registration of PI, that is optional. You don't need to register. When you start up PI, it should come up with a splash screen every now and then, giving you the oportunity to register. It would be impossible to do if you cannot get onto the web site though.

Registering it gives you an easy record of all your registered Ulead software in one location and is the only means to obtain ULEAD tech support. Other than that, it is not required to run the program.

OK Thanks. It seems like everything is running. I was just concerned that it's the demo disk that I have. The help screen does have a seriel number. I'll try Ulead again later.

I'll add to Heinz's wisdom, If you intend on purchasing it, I recommend obtaining another full version disc or download. There have been issues with updates and patches not installing on trial versions that have been activated by a key. They tend to see the program still as a trial, and most of the updates are for full versions.

Sorry, Didn't read your post correctly. I wasn't aware that you can get the TBYB version on a disk also.

All the above is still corect but I would want to add something to it.

Never, I say "Never", install a TBYB version and simply activate it when you buy the full version later.

It may be a bit of a hassle uninstalling the trial before you install the real thing but it will save you a lot of headaches along the way. Trial versions are often of an older built than the full version and may have other limitations also.

And, one more thing:If you are planning to download the full version, immediately after downloading it, make a backup of the install file and put it away for save keeping, together with your other documentation like receipts etc.

I finally got to Ulead site - must have been extra busy. I have been downloading and installing and reinstalling this thing for almost a month trying to get it work. I finally spent money (12.99) for a demo version on disk. Installed it and it works fine. Got to the Ulead site to buy it, but now it's too late for the $30.00 discount. I even tried to sneak in as an upgrade, but can't do it. As of now, upgrade is 39.99 and full is 89.99.
Don't know why, but for the upgrade, the box version is 39 and the download version is 49.00.
I'll work with what I have for now and check the price later. Call me cheap.

PS: I do have the installer on the demo disk

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you don't have the installer on CD. What you have is the TBYB installer, not the full version. It will stop working after a preset period of time
