VS10+ and PSP -

Post by to0w1r3d »

I am not having issues with capturing video, it's exporting out to a PSP. The directory stucture on the PSP is correct

First - I tried to export any video file (AVI,MPEG,MP4) to PSP by the share/export to mobile device/MPEG-4 PSP

Error: frame size (368x208) of the video file does not match the settings therefor cannot be trimmed.
Second, I tried using any other "export to mobile devce" in the list (ipod, pda etc - it'll export the video file to a MP4 and even name the file M4Vxxxx but now the frame size is 320x240 and the PSP will not recognize the file.

Third, since there wasn't a default capture @ 368x208 I built one under tools/make movie manager. The only problem I could only do this under AVI because custom sizes were not enabled under any other format. So I captured the file, applied the template and still had to export to mobile device. Still get the same error

Error: frame size (368x208) of the video file does not match the settings therefor cannot be trimmed.

Fourth, I also just tried to copy MP4 movies over directly (making sure I have the THM file as well) Still no luck, the PSP wouldn't recognize it.

The problem I see is either 1.) I can't capture MP4 video to the correct aspect. and 2.) I could setup a custom size under AVI, but could never export it out to MP4 (or at least through the "share" tab)

Worked on this for a while - I am broke...any suggestions? Any tutorials? I searched the forums and site but didn't come up with much. The way it sounded, I thought I could click one button export to PSP and *poof*....guess not.

I also have used third party tools to export out to the PSP...but I was hoping I could capture and export with just VS.

Thanks

Hi,

I had similar issues, trying to save a MPEG 4 clip, that would play on my MPEG 4 compliant DVD player. it seems there is a difference in frame size and settings such as fps and audio also.

When you to to Share>Create Video File, scroll down to the bottom and select Custom. Now in the Save as dialogue box, there is a drop down menu, where you can select MPEG4. Then select Options. On the General tab in the middle you have several optons for Frame Sizes, and above that several options for Frame Rate. Clicking on the Compression tab, you will find a drop-down menu providing 3 compression codec choices.

First, thanks for the help....

Vidoman - followed your direction, but when I select MPEG-4 Files in the Save As and choose Options, most of the items under the General Tab are grayed out:

Encoder Driver : Ulead MPEG-4 vio Driver (only option)
Data Track: Audio Video or Video Only
Frame Rate: 15.000fps (cannot edit)
Frame Type Frame-based (only option)
Frame Size: Standard 176x144 (cannot edit)
Display Aspect: Source, 4:3 or 16:9

So the only options I can change are Data Track and Aspect...and choosing any of those options still doesn't open up any other option in that tab.

I also tried this with a AVI and MP4 capture, didn't matter...

So - so is there a problem with the codec? This is the latest version...

I don't understand why you can't change them. You might try downloading Sherlock Codec Detective to see if there is a problem with your codec.
