no audio with firewire

When I try to capture using firewire in VS 10 plus in the capture window the video is spilt into 4 pictures with a large green line down the middle. when I play back the captured file video is fine but there's no audio.Tried two different camera's same result

Are these both DV cameras? (Do they use Mini-DV tapes?) The audio and video are multiplexed together on the DV tape, and they stream into the computer together via the Firewire connection. If you then "capture" to an AVI/DV file, the DV data should be unaltered.

If that is your set-up, it is more likely that you have a playback problem, than a capture problem.

Yes these are both mini DV camera's Canon ZR 20 and Sony VX 2100 when I capture the same clip in using the AV out of the camera's it's fine possible bad firewire cable maybe?

When you use the firewire connection, what format are the resulting files you capture to your hard drive :?: Can you list their properties?

Also, what are you using to play them back on your computer :?:

The clip had LPCM audio changed the capture format option from DVD to MPEG and now the audio works Whats LPCM audio?
