Bulk Changes To Images and Transitions In VS10

Post by broo0591 »

Is there a way to make bulk changes to images (image timing, transitions, etc) in Video Studio 10 or do I have to make changes to individual images one at a time? In some instances, it is very convenient to change image timing, transition timing or even transition type to several images at once, but I have not been able to do this.

For image timing (duration) and for transition timing (duration), you can set default values for these, and then just the edit the few in your timeline that need to be different. Do this by going to File|Preferences|Edit and use the provided boxes to set your duration times. For setting up a default transition type, go to File|Preferences|General and select your transition type in the box called "Default Transition Effect". Be sure to place a check mark in the check box just above this menu option called "Use Default Transition Effect".

Thanks Bryan for the help. I understand about image timing and transition in the initial setup of the project (preferences), but how about in the edit phase when you decide that you need to change some (but not all) images or transitions, etc? Is this a one-by-one process?

Thanks

There is one option to change the duration of all the image/color clips. With all the clips highlighted that you want to change, go to Clip menu, Change Image/Color Clip Duration. Everything else has to be done manually..

Ron,

How do you multi-select image/color clips to apply the "Clip menu, Change Image/Color Clip Duration" file command? When I'm in the Storyboard view, I hold the Ctrl key down while clicking on several image/color clips, and more than one clip won't stay highlighted. Then the Change Image/Color Clip duration in the Clip Menu is grayed out. How do you do this?

That's a downside of the option. I would think that you could use CTL + Click, to select random clips. You have to SHIFT + Click, and it only allows consecutive clips.

Ron,

I held down the Shift key and clicked on two consecutive color clips. The two color clips show the blue highlight, but when I click on Clip in the menu bar, "Change Image/Color Duration" is still grayed out.

Your doing this with color or image clips correct? This does not apply to video or audio clips.

Yes, I'm doing this with color and image clips only, but it doesn't work for me when I highlight two consecutive image or color clips. The Change Image/Color Duration in the Clips Menu Bar remains grayed out.
