Still not working. Is VS8 different?

Post by teamnorton@hotmail.com »

It's not mentioned anywhere. I've read through the camcorder to dvd with videostudio link (which was very clear) but 1) it doesn't mention VS8 and 2) I still get the same message + "Ignore any nagging error messages and close them. Now turn your camcorder ON in playback mode. A message will appear on screen telling you that “A new device is plugged into your computer. Do you want to use it?”" I did that but the message doesn't appear. I don't know the other info. about my pc.

Although the Tutorial doesn't mention VS8 it is the same procedure. Obviously the later versions contain more functions but basic procedures - such as getting your video from the camcorder into the computer - remain the same.

Now that I know you have Windows XP, you will find that XP has Windows Movie Maker built into it. Does Windows Movie Maker recognise your camcorder when turned on and connected to the computer with an IEEE1394 (firewire) cable?

VS8 problem

Post by teamnorton@hotmail.com »

No it doesn't. I tried that a while ago. Thank you for your help so far - I'll complete my profile asap, though I suspect the problem is a basic, or at least fundamental one.

If Windows Movie Maker also doesnt recognise your camcorder then it is not a fault with the VideoStudio software.

Possibly you have a faulty cable. Make sure your camcorder is in playback mode and not record mode.
