Video Studio not working after working previously

Post by lenmore »

Hey, seem a lot of you are having the same problem, why doesn't Corel have some sort of support process to help us with this instead of just making us use forums?? Has anyone tried to get help from Corel, same as it used to be with Ulead, no contact unless you buy the program and even then they don't offer much help......I've got several Ulead programs that constantly fail on several machines I own and massivly out of pocket on dodgy programs over the years, thank god for the trial versions as you can find out they don't work before you buy them. :)

Sorry I have to disagree with you. Yes it could very well be DEP causing this. However you seem to have your mind made up, so good luck with SVP ;)
Lucky it's just a trial as would be royally shat off if I bought this pile of stuff.
Funny so far I've not had these problems. Not to say that I have not had any problems. I've managed to work them out, and the programs ran and still do. So I don't think that it is a "pile of stuff".

Video Studio Not Working

Post by lenmore »

Hi again, you seem to have a pne track mind about DEP, again it's not DEP, tried that and it's the same, it's not DEP.

Is there anyone else there with a suggestion.....would like to get this thing fixed for a whole so I can finish off a project already started.

Anyone, even suggestions from Corel would help??

Could be a problem with some other software loaded on to the computer.
You could try shutting down all unnecessary programs and services to see if that helps. The fact that it sort of fixes with a restore then unfixes itself again tends to indicate something in there is updating itself in some way and may be causing a conflict.
The other possibility is to uninstall, disable the usual start up items from loading (using msconfig) then reinstalling. That may give VS precedence over whatever it may be conflicting with.

VideoStudio not working

Post by lenmore »

That may work, will try loading only the essentials. It did the same thing on anohter computer with different specs, 3gig intel with 1 gig ram, but also has service pack 3 loaded, may try unloading the most recent windows updates first and see if that fixes it. Both the machines I ran it on have service pack 3, but it dod work with that several times before failing so would think that's not the cause......will keep trying. Just thought Corel would offer some solution rather than make us users find the solution for them??

I sometimes think this forum should be renamed the Corel R&D Department!

I had a similar problem when I downloaded Video Studio 12 trial version. It worked fine for the first couple days and then started to give me an error message whenever I would start my computer. I can not remember what the exact message was, but I do remember that it told me that the program would be terminated. After closing this message I would be unable to access the program. I do not get the error message anymore, but nothing happens when I click on the trial version icon. I did try playing around with the DEP, but that did not change anything. I am thinking that my trial version ended prematurely.

My computer uses windows XP and has a Pentium four processor. I have more then enough ram on my system, a couple GIG's worth in fact, and meet all other requirements for the trial version.

Have you tried going to Start - All Programs - Corel and clicking on the VS 12 entry to see if that starts the program. Often the DLL file that makes the shortcut on the desjop work gets corrupted or deleted!

Just tried that idea and it did not work. Double clicking on project icons doesn't do anything either.

Went to start it this evening, and it would not start. Did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Hmm... odd... worked yesterday? So, troubleshooting XP step 1 - restart the computer.

Upon restart, I get a message stating "The security information is invalid or has been modified. The program will be terminated." Hmmm... that's REALLY odd. But, everything seems to start up OK. So I try to run VS10. Again, nothing. Nada.

I try the easy uninstall / re-install. Nothing.

I try the "hard" uninstall... After restarting the computer, the odd security warning doesn't come up (which is why I think that the message is somehow related to VS10) so OK... progress! But, I tried re-installing VS10 and it still won't run.

Now I'm angry because if I decide to give up on this program, the work I did over the weekend is lost (grrr) unless anyone has any suggestions as to getting the software back up!

Help! Please!!!
That is the classic error message that appears when the computer thinks an attempt has been made to get around the 30 day trial period. There are of course times when this may have occured innocently such as the computer clock being wrong - possibly after the computer has been turned off and then later back on but the motherboards CMOS battery had gone flat thus losing the current time/date.

Unfortunately the only way to get a 30 day trial back (If System Restore doesn't get you back) is to reformat the hard drive or use another computer.
System Restore wrote:This article describes how to use the System Restore tool to return your computer to a previous state. System Restore takes "snapshots" of critical system files and some program files and registry settings and stores this information as restore points. If your computer is not functioning correctly, you can use these restore points to return Windows XP to a previous state when your computer was functioning correctly. It can also change scripts, batch files, and other kinds of executable files on your computer.

This article is for a beginning to intermediate computer user.

Note System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos. You can only restore files that you have deleted if you have made backups of those files
