Ulead Video Studio cannot be removed

Post by Liu »

Mr. sjj1805, [Steve], in his kind posted instruction, showed us how to reinstall. My question is more serious.

After reading all the comments on Movie Factory 5 and Video Studio, I have decided to purchase DVDExpresssDX2 which uses Ulead VideoStudio 9 Se Dvd. Previously, I have already installed Ulead VIdeoStudio 6 se DVD as part of the USB INstant DVD package.
Now, I cannot install VS 9 probably because the existnece of VS 6. An error message kept on poppling up and shut down the the installed VS 9.
So I tried to remove VS 6. But I could not. I tried Steve's method step by step [except for the 88f92798-...folder designed for the removal of VS9] but to no avail.
The VS 6 could not be removed and now my VS 9 kept on shutting down.
Could Steve or anyone help me?
Thank you in advance.

Need one for VS6

Post by Liu »

Dear Steve:
Thanks. While you kindly provided the "code" for Video Studio 8 {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E}and that for Video Studio 9 ,...Video Studio 10...., I still need the one for Video Studio 6.

In addition, I have so far managed to removed all the other files you specified, but the program is still there in Control Penal. Each time when I tried to remove the program using add/removel in the Control Penal, the VS6, instead of being removed, always repaired itself and have all the removed files back into my C drive's program file, common file, user file and the whole work.
The link for manual is no longer operative.
Please help, Steve.
Truly yours,
Liu

Liu,

This seems like a problem with your OS (Operating System), which is WinXP. When you go to Control Panel, and click to remove a program, that's what the OS should do, is uninstall it, unless you are mistakenly choosing to Repair. When you are attempting to uninstall the program, do you have the CD in the tray? If so try removing it first, the go to Control Panel and select to Remove the program.

I will try

Post by Liu »

Dear Ron:
Thanks and I will try.
I have so far used only remove. The program CD rom was always out. I even unstalled all the VideoStudio 9 [with DVDEXpressDX2] and other video related programs. They were all removed easily and successfully. But the VideoStudio6 simply would not "go". I talked to the Ulead support this afternoon but was told that they could not do anything for ideoStudio6.
I Will let you know after I try it again.
Thanks again, Ron.
Truly yours

DO have have to remove VS6?

Post by Liu »

I could not initiate VS9 [always showed an error report messge and shut down itself] so I suspecded it was because I have VS6 installed at the same time.
Now that I cannot remove VS6 [all other programs, including VS9 and trial edition of VS10, could be removed easily using control penal.

Do I really have to remove VS6 to make VS9 work?

Or I have been barking up the wrong tree?

Any advise from you experts?

Sincerely,
Liu

Dear sjj1805 [Steve] and Vidoman [Ron]:
Thaks for the help from the both of you.
It is the new link that Steve gave me that led me to the "magic file" that finally got rid of my VIdeoStudio 6. Earlier today, I talked to both Ulead and VideoStudio techs regarding my VideoStudio6 [with USB Instant DVD] and VideoStudio9 [with DVDEXpressDV2]. They all said nothing can be done to remove my VideoStudio6.
They are so wrong
Steve's magic file, namely {54041E185-BD7C......}, has finally got rid the nuisance VIdeoStudio6. By removing it from program file and from the registry, together with other procedure Steve provided and Ron helped, I have done it.
I have spend one whole week and numerous hours to get rid of it as I believe the VS6 was responsible for my inability to initiate VS9. Now that VS6 is gone I can run VS9 smoothly.
Thank you very much. I am grateful.
Leo :)
