How do I re-download using my ID number w/out paying again?

Post by david@virtualtourssell.co »

i'm in a pickle.
my harddrive has crashed, leaving me w/out ulead vs10, which i purchased as an upgrade from v9 some months ago.

can anyone please tell me how to go about redownloading, and if i can enter my ID number to prevent me from having to pay for it again? i purchased the one year extension.

another problem i have is that my record keeping is remiss, all i have is my original version 9 info. i guess i'll redownload v9, then pay for the upgrade again? since i apparently didn't register my upgrade.

does any of this make sense? i've searched but do not know how to do this. any help is appreciated guys.

Hi David,

Since you purchased the ESD version, this should have been through Element5. You can log into your account, and then be able to download it again..

https://secure.element5.com/esales/ccc/ ... 424f7d7a23

NOTE This time if you're successful you need to register it with Ulead.

I agree, you got yourself into a "pickle" and don't really know how you intend on going about "re-downloading" it. It can't be done.

I also don't know what you are referring to with the "one year extension". The only way to freshly download a new file is through your original vendor. If you don't have any proof of purchase :? I don't like your chances. Incidentally, the same goes for VS9. You say you have all your info on that one, what does that consist of?

One more thing concerning the registering of programs: Registering is not compulsory and doesn't give you any access to downloadable files. It just stores your serial number information for you. Tech help, OTOH, is only available to registered users.

The only way to do what you want is, to go to your original vendor i.e. elements5, present your proof of purchase and ask for a new download link.

Not sure exactly how VS10 authenticates an upgrade because I don’t use it. You should know, because you did it once. Some products require the location of the setup.exe file for the qualifying product, others require the serial number of the qualifying product. If you got neither, it’s far better to cut your losses and purchase a full version.

When you do, in fact, whatever you do, after you download a new file, make a backup copy of that file and keep it save

@Heinz,

I'm not sure about Element5, but I know when I purchased Jasc software ESD, there was the option to purchase an extended download time, which I did take advantage of. I haven't checked recently, but I think it finally expired. So maybe he was able to purchase an extention on the download link. However if not, then he's SOL, since he didn't register it with Ulead.

VS authenticates the upgrade by requiring you to enter a serial number for the older version you are upgrading from. This is actually a very good method. No valid serial number, then you can't get beyond that page, to download it.

thanks for the quick and knowledgeable response.

Yes, Element5 (unless you purchased from Softwrap) handles most the sales for Ulead, as well as a multitude of other companies.
