help repeat part of a clip in slow motion!

Post by 2BaD »

Does anyone know how i can repeat apart of a clip in slow motion.

For example say im watching a video clip and lets say someone falls over, what im wanting to do is while the movie clip is playing and its played the part were the person is falling over, i want to be able to sort of repeat the fall but in slow motion then maybe repeat it again in slower motion, then maybe another bit were it speeds it back up again but faster and so on!

Does anyone know how i go about doing this! All help would be greatly apreciated please!

Hello 2BaD,

What you will need to do is cut the clip (use the scissor button on the navigation bar) at the beginning part of the slow motion scene and cut it again at the end the scene. Copy and paste the new clip to the Library. Then, if you want five or six of these scenes to repeat one after the other, drag and drop the new clip from the Library into the timeline 5 or 6 times where you cut the original clip. Do not place any transitions between any of the cut scenes and the repeated scenes. Now, starting with the first short scene, click on the "Playback Speed" word in the Video tab of the control panel. You can adjust the playback speed as slow as 10% of normal speed and as fast as 1000% of normal speed. Either use the speed up/down arrows to adjust the speed percentage or use the slide bar. Repeat this for each of your short cut clips to the desired slow or fast speed.Playback and adjust as necessary. This should give you the desired effect.

Thanks, I'm glad it turned out great for you. The fun part is when you mess around with it a bit and tweak it just the way you want it. It gives you a very satisfying feeling.
