How to split a hdv video clip as two dv video clips?

Post by suoiruc »

Since the resolution of hdv (mpg) video clip is double or even more I would like to make two separate dv video clips from my original hdv video clips. I would like to take left part of the hdv video to the first dv video clip and ther right part of the hdv video to the second dv video clip.
So half resolution of the hdv clip should be enough for both independent dv video clips (the left side and the right side of the original hdv clip).
I suppose that the process somehow involves making an elargement of the original hdv image. Please help me.

Thanks!!

That isn't the way to make standard definition video. Set your camera to HDV-->DV and iLink convert to on. This will convert you HD Video to DV and you don't have to convert.

Thanks for input.

Actually I am also aware of the automatic function fof hdv -> sd transformation. But this only shrinks the hd resolution to sd resolution.

However in my case I would like to capture both left and right side of the original hdv clip to two new simultaneous dv clips. My plan is to keep the original resolution but in two separate dv clips. This could offer a possibility to film a scene with only one stationary hdv camera and then in editing process to create two different "camera angles" in sd resolution. Then you could use these two different "camera angles" like in a multicamera production.

All advice highly appreciated!

There isn't a left and right side of the video, the video is interlaced and therefore can only be de-interlaced if you rerender the video.
