Hi,
Firstly, thanks to all those who responded about my questions about your thoughts on VS10 ... it is the direction I'm heading.
I've downloaded the trial ... and whilst its very different to Pinnacle Studio 9, it looks like it will do most things.
A few questions though:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. there are only 4 menus in the trial ... are there more in the full version?
(I know they are customisable, but I couldnt see how to make one from scratch either)
2. are there any backgrounds in the full version that you can use for title pages and add text (Pinnacle had quite a few of these), but I don't see any in the trial
3. From what I can tell, if you want menu and submenus etc, you create each chapter as a separate project and then when you create menus at the end, you add in each project to link to the menu. Does this sound about right?
4. Does anyone know exactly what is different from the trial to the full version (or know of a list somewhere)?
THanks in advance,
Belinda.
Trial version vs Full version??
Hi Belinda,
I don't (and wouldn't) have Pinnacle Studio 9, so I don't know what it will or will not do. However do know what VS will and will not do...
1. Yes, there are a total of 14 menus in the full version, 5-Smartscene, 4-Text, 5-Thumbnail.
2. Yes, there are 14 backgrounds. However you can add any JPG, PNG, BMP, as a background. So how many photos/images do you have?
3. No that's not correct. To add submenus/chapters, you add them by selecting the Add/Edit Chapters. You can add your chapters to each Title (video clip) you have on the timeline in the burn module, manually or by a specified duration.
4. The difference is the not all menus are provided in the trial version, and Dolby Digital is not allowed. Ulead is known for fully functional TBYB versions. These are different then SE versions, which are bundled with hardware or found in magazines. The SE versions are tweaked for the specific hardware they come with, and may have certain features disabled. The TBYB is not. The reason for Dolby Digital being disabled is that it is Fee based. Ulead is not allowed to distribute it without charging for it's use.
It always seems that the main concern is what (content) is in it, instead of what it can do. They could pack a terabyte of content with it, and if the program is not able to do anything would you be happier? No I don't think so. So I would look at comparing what Pinnacle can not do. There is a comparison chart found on Ulead's Website: http://www.ulead.com/vs/compare.htm, and Pinnacle Studio 10 is one product that is compared.
