Can VideoStudio be used to make DVD from .mov files?

Post by andyc »

Can Ulead VideoStudio be used to convert .mov files into Video CD (VCD) or DVDs? That's the only thing I need to do

I have a load of videos in .mov format that I can play on my computer. But, I'd like to get software that can turn it into either a VCD or a DVD so that I can play it on my DVD player.

Would VideoStudio do that?

Hi Andy

I think it can.

Use Tools make Movie Manager to create a template to DVD format.

Share-Create Video File-Select your template.

Just remember, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Download the trial version and give it a go.

It depends on what codec is used in the mov files. As you know, mov is a container file, and a number of codecs can be used to encode the video. I believe VS can handle most of them - except some MPEG4 codecs. Many users have reported that VS cannot handle the movies shot by the newer Kodak digital cameras which used H.264 codecs. On the other hand, most other digital cameras which utilize mov format for video use MJPEG codecs, and VS has no problem importing and editing them directly.

As trevor said, your best bet is to try the trial version.

Another option (e.g. for MPEG4 mov files) is to use QuickTime Pro to convert the video first, then you can use your favourite software to create VCDs/DVDs.
