Newbie needs suggestions

Post by grammy444 »

I have VS7 Basic installed on my computer (by the techs who built it) and never had occasion to make use of it until recently when I decided to do something with the multitude of tapes I had from my Canon camcorder.

I have been able to capture with no problem, and do not really want to do a lot of editing at this time (but would love to learn more about it in the future) . My main goal right now is to capture the video, then get it burned to a DVD. However, I just found out, after days of frustration, that the Basic edition I have does not have authoring and burning features available, and there is no MPEG2 codec for creating DVD's.

So, the question is, what can I buy/download for a minimal amount of money (I don't want to spend a lot on something I might not use much) so that I can use it in conjunction with the VS7Basic that I already have? User friendly would be a big plus.

Download the free trial of VS10+ which has more bells & whistles VS7. It's pretty user friendly also.
iMac AIO (late 2012)
Windows 7 (bootcamp)
VS Pro X3
8gb RAM
1 - 1TB HD
1 - 120 SSD
1 - 2TB External HD
Panasonic DVC-30
