DVD MovieFactory 3 crashes during the dvd burning process ... It will start the dvd burning process, then when it reaches to about 40% (during the time when it's converting the video editing title) ... for some odd reason .. it crashes ... the program simply closes itself ... why?
I have used this program to create movie before ... but it was made into a vcd ... not dvd ... so ...
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled (through the tediou process of deleting the specific files following the procedures posted on this website). I then installed the updates (supposedly fixed the bug of conversion error during the dvd burning process ... but obviously didn't). Nothing seems to work ... PLEASE HELP!!
thks!

How big is the boot partition and how full is it?
What can happen is that in editing/rendering/burning a project the C: drive fills to the point that the system swapfile gets choked for space and cannot expand if needed. When it tries to expand you get a memory error or outright crash.
A basic setup to prevent this is to move the VS working and preview folders (both setups in 'Preferences') off the boot drive (presumably the 40g) and into a folder in the root of the 320g drive (presumably the 'video drive').

Unfortunately, I have already moved the working folder over to the 320 GB drive. Yet, it still does not work.
The boot partition is indeed located in the 40GB drive ... and currently there is still 17GB of free space.
Could there be issues like program bugs that can be fixed? Could it be my video file?
Thks!

Probably. I'll bet it's MPEG, or maybe DivX or Xvid? For some reason, the highly-compresed formats are more prone to corruption, and/or the codecs are more sensitive to corruption than less-compressed AVI/DV files.Could it be my video file?
Please tell us something about your file format, and how you captured it. The Read This First... post at the top of the forum tells you what we need to know in order to help you.

You captured (actually transfered, DV/AVI is a straight data transfer). Did you "capture" to DV/AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, or MPEG4? Then after you have it on your computer did you edit it? If so then did you create a DVD Compatible MPEG2? It is possible to create an MPEG2 that is not.Crash&Burn wrote:It's a MPEG file.
I captured the file through Firewire ... Mini DV tape ... using MovieFactory 3 program.
I agree with DVDDoug, that the MPEG file may be corrupt. However not knowing what version of MPEG it is difficult to further diagnose. What you can do is right click on your video file, select properties and post them here..
