Easy with quality results - possible to do this?

Post by jmartin325 »

First off, congratulations to ULEAD for being the first product I've tested that was able to produce a good/great quality DVD of an ENTIRE unedited DV tape without screwing up either the sound sync or the 16:9 aspect ratio from my Canon ZR600! I thought I was never going to have success!
Is the following possible using DVD MovieFactory 5?
In one simple step:
Capture a full DV tape from my Canon ZR600 via firewire, putting it direct to DVD, KEEPING the 16:9 aspect ratio, auto-creating a menu with chapters or titles based on date of clips, and display the date/time for ~5 seconds when each clip begins?
I know that's a lot to ask in one simple step, but that's about all I care to do to save my DV tape contents to DVD. If it cannot be done in one simple step, can it be done period?
BTW - this is basically the view I get from the viewfinder on the ZR600 when I play back the tape, minus the menu of course.
thx

Hey Maddrummer, if it'll do all that too, I'll take it. Anything that gives me more time to play, rather than sitting editing and transcoding videos all day/night long...
Aparently I AM asking too much, as I have yet to see anything that will even take my DV tapes straight to DVD, KEEPING the 16:9 ratio intact. I haven't seen all the programs yet, but I'm getting close.
I'd be happy just to get my 16:9 footage straight from DV to DVD without spending hours screwing with the software/settings, or waiting forever for the transcoding to occur. Give me EXACTLY what I see when I replay my DV tapes on the camera itself (plus a simple menu to jump to the clips), on a DVD...that's all I'm asking. Sounds pretty simple, huh? Apparently it's not...
It's not like I'm asking for a three-stroke roll, or even a paradiddle! :P
