I'm brand new in this activity of creating DVD's and I will like to start creating nice home videos. I have a Sony DCR-HC20 that works with miniDV. I see other Sony cameras but I don't see my camera as part of the list that has compatibility with this DVD movie factory software. I was planning to download it or buy it, but if it doesn't work, then.... I really don't know. Does that mean that I'm out of the game?
I will love to create nice DVDs and cut scenes and add titles, very basic things. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200, a Memorex DVD burner and bought for this project a 300 GB external drive. I thought that DVD Movie Factory was going to be the answer to capture my mDV handycam tapes. I honestly feel lost. I swear I'm not lazy. I've been searching in the forum for some kind of lead that will help me, but cannot seem to find the clear path to proceed. All what I see is that my camera is not compatible. I need some orientation. Can you please help me or show me what is it that I need to do? I will truly appreciate it. Thanks.
Totally ignorant software compatibility Please Help!
So, you haven't downloaded the free trial? DV camcorders seem to be fairly standardized, and it will probably work (via a Firewire connection).I was planning to download it or buy it, but if it doesn't work, then.... I really don't know. Does that mean that I'm out of the game?
Even if Movie Factory can't "capture" your video, your camera might have come with it's own software. Once you have an AVI/DV file on your hard drive, you should be able to use any video software to edit and to author DVDs.

I agree with DVDDoug and Heinz Oz. Device not listed in the compatibility list does not mean not supported. you can download the trial version to check it out.
