"Broken" menus on finished DVD projects using 10+

Post by morcegohoman »

Hi-

After solving my DVD burning issues (I learned to not have the timeline empty), now I see that my menu with 17 chapters does not work properly.

I wish I could list all of the chapters on one title page, but since there are only 3 per page with the given templates, I am able to navigate all the way to chapter 15 (5 submenus). When I click to go the the 6th and final submenu (with chapters 16 & 17 on it) I get a "check disk" message from my DVD player and I get bounced back into Windows MediaCenter when I try it on my computer.

On top of this, chapter 15 does the same thing when selected. This is not the first disk that I've successfully burned on this (my first) project and have had the same problem on a previous try.

Is my video corrupted? What to do?

Thanks.

morcegohoman,

Not sure which type of menu you are selecting, but VS10+ offers three styles of menus - Smart Menus, Text Menus and Thumbnail Menus. If you choose any one of the 4 Text Menus, you can have up to 8 chapters on one menu page. If you choose 3 of the 5 Thumbnail Menus, you can have up to 8 chapters on one menu page, and the other 2 Thumbnail Menus offer up to 9 chapters on one page. When in your chapter menu screen, click on the Edit tab of the options panel, then click on "Customize". This opens up the "Customize Menu". Toward the lower portion of the menu is a drop down arrow. Click on it and it will give you a drop down menu with 3 choices - Navigation Button, Layout and Frame (for Thumbnail menus only). Select the Layout option and you will see a whole host of choices. Use the scroll bar at the bottom to scroll all the way over to the right and you will see options for up to 8 chapters per menu page. You should be able to get by now with 2 chapter menus if you use one of the two Thumbnail Menu options that provides for 9 per page. Hope this helps.

Your instructions DID help. I totally missed the drop down box with the thumbnails, etc.

Successful burn.

I guess we can't burn 99 chapters using the Smartmenu deal though huh? Not that I want to anyway...

THANK YOU.
