OS - WinXP Service Pack 2
VideoStudio 10+
Camcorder - Sony DCR-PC105
P4 - 3GHz
HDD - 150GB & 150GB
RAM - 512MB
Video - NVIDIA GeForce MX 440
I connect thru a firewire, windows recongizes it as 'Sony DV Camcorder', & is also listed in my Device Manager Under Imaging Devices as 'Sony DV Camcorder.
My OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 host controller MS driver version 5.1.2535.0
IN VS
Source - Microsoft DV Camera & VCR (Mine is not listed)
Device Control Manger - None (cannot change to MS 1394: unable to open...check if your device is ready)
Capture Plugin - Ulead Directshow Capture Plugin
The card works well with my IPOD & the firewall cable I just bought from the Sony store to use with my Camcorder & VS.
I did follow the procedure of Boot ->Camcorder ->VS
I did the re-register of the Microsoft DV codec.
I just can't get this thing to go, does anyone know why?

Rich,
You have done your homework and everything should be good to go.
The only thing that I can think of are the Sony camcorder menu settings that enable DV capture.... Or possibly a bad firewire connector in the camera. It is generally recommended to plug and unplug with power off.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I'd suggest that you try resetting the Ulead Direct Show Capture Plug-in.
You can do that by switching to the Ulead plug-in that allows for capture directly to the MPEG format.
Then switch back to the Direct Show Capture Plug-in for DV .avi capture.
