Burnt film/transistion effect

Post by fatbloke »

I'm getting on well now with MSP8 - hope I can explain what I want to do. I'd like to add a transition like the old cinema 'burning film' situation when the film would stop rolling and the heat of the projector lamp would burn the film. I've seen it used on films and TV alike. Any ideas how I might be able to do this?

Cheers,
Simon

Oh, by the way, I don't mean the BURN F/X transition. I want the effect so you see the film burn with the sprocket holes. Does this make sense?

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean...Ive watched it personally in horror when a print jams in my (trusty) CL-16, talk about jumping up and running to the projector..lol! Not projectors fault, mine, for not seeing that lousy overlapping splice someone did with scotch tape!! lol.

Uleads does not have a transition like you describe but its a cool ideal. Maybe you could create it in Video Paint? Or make a mask for the film frame and sprocket hole bits and use the burn fx along with that.
But that wont give you that realistic "toasting" the film effect. Good Luck
