Viewing on TV - pictures cut off

Post by cconradj »

I just purchased PS4 and am definitely in the learning process. I've scanned in over 500 pictures, with 6 slideshows. I burned a draft to a DVD - just to see if it would work. Yahoo, it did! BUT some of the words were cut off in the description in the lower right hand corner, as well as tops/bottoms of pictures. Usually the last letter or two were missing - because it was right justified I assume. My husband thought maybe it was set up for wide screen TV. Is this a possibility? Any ideas to rectify this?

BTW, this is my first time "chatting" on the internet so I don't understand how this completely works. I was reading the forum just to learn more. This Mike that answers so frequently, I assumed he did work for Ulead. I guess I was wrong after reading one of the chats. Are you just a very knowledgable person who shares his wealth of information? I can't imagine how you have the time to answer all these questions! But I do thank you for it, especially if you answer mine!

And as for all these options, HTML, BBCode, etc. is beyond me. I just wanted to archive our family pictures and have a little fun with the program.... Hope this posting works...

The missing letters etc. are still there, it's just that your TV won't show the whole picture. There is nothing one can do about that. The TV does not display the whole picture. Around 10 to 15% all around your picture are cut off by the so called "overscan" area.

The best way to overcome that is to stick to the "title safe" area, ie. 10 - 15% away from the edges of your image.

Hi cconradj,

Thanks for the kind words :-)

There are several users (myself among them) who monitor this forum on a fairly regular basis. Because we have become so familiar with the software it doesn't take as much time as you might think to answer questions (which of course are always welcome here). As your schedule allows, check the forum from time to time and you'll often discover tips and that will help you learn more about your PictureShow software and make even better slideshows.

Good luck!

Thank you for the information. And the time you spend answering questions for beginners! I will just have to play with the descriptions and keep them away from that edge area. There was another question I forgot to ask. When I watched the draft burned DVD, after the show completed, it returned to the menu. Is there any way of making the whole show loop?

One more question. If there a way of telling all the pictures in a slideshow to randoming do different transitioning effects? Going through them one by one is kind of a pain for 500 pictures. Obviously there are certain ones I will do special effects for. But the program that originally started me on this project, Photoshow 2.1 by SimpleStar, had that option. That program was SOOO easy, but I was not able to import my own music. If I could pick a random option, this would go so much faster for my grandparent's day gift on Sunday.

Go to: File > Preferences > Output Settings > Navigation Controls > Select "Continue to play the next clip" from the dropdown menu and click "OK". This will enable your slideshows to play in sequence without returning to the title menu.

On the "2 Theme" tab, select the "Slideshow" tab (near the right side of the interface) and Click the "Transition Effect" button which will open a transition selection box. Use the dropdown menu to select the "Combinations" category. Here you can choose from 7 transition "sets". Each set includes a preset combination of various transitions that will be automatically applied throughout your slideshow. So it's not truly "random" but it gives the viewer that sort of visual impression. If desired you can then manually change any of the transitions that you wish.

Hope that helps :-)

Thank you so much! I accidentally found the looping option yesterday. But the random viewing should save me a lot of time tonight, so I can have this done in time for grandparents day. I have a cheat sheet started with all your helpful hints started. You've been a HUGE help!
