NTSC/PAL Safe Color Setting in Burn Module
When in the Burn Module (Share|Create Disc), there is the "Settings and Options" icon button in the lower left corner of the menu screen. When you click on it and select Preferences|Advanced tab, there is a check box for "NTSC/PAL safe color". The default setting for this feature is unchecked. What is the purpose of this feature? What is the difference between checking this box and leaving it unchecked?

Cheers,

There are a few colors which will cause problems on a TV because they are outside the TV standards. True white, black and red are some of them. Especially red is problematic since it will bleed into surrounding areas and look very fuzzy. This filter will adjust the colors which ar outside the TV standard automatically.

Thanks heinz-oz!!
I assume then, that you and other board/forum members have this box checked when burning your DVD's and it is therefore the recommended procedure to have this filter enabled?
Thanks, again for the great response.

You can also set this in File>Preferences>Edit tab. Why have it in two places? If you have it checked in one and not the other, what happens?

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your reply. If I had to guess, the setting for NTSC color safe in Preferences|Edit probably applies to the video file itself. The NTSC color safe setting in the burn module probably applies to everything outside of the video file, such as the main menu and chapter menus (ie, their background images, titles, etc.). Can anyone with more experience and knowledge confirm that this is the case?
