Transfering a video file into Video Studio

Post by Poopsi »

I have an older Home Video that I had put onto a DVD a while back. Can I capture that of the DVD into Video Studio and than edit? Or doI have to use a different Program to get it onto my Computer first? Thank you Irene

Irene,

You can import the DVD using VS. I'm guessing that you are using VS10 +.
  • On your timeline right-click and select Import DVD/DVD-VR
  • The dialogue box that opens should have your DVD drive in it. If not in the pull-down menu select the drive where you have the DVD.
  • Next select Import. The import from folder is used when you have DVD folders (Video_TS, Audio_TS) already on your hardrive.
  • A progess bar will appear, then the import window.
  • In the import window you will see a pane on the left that has Title and Chapters with boxes to the left. Check anyone or all of the boxes next to the titles and chapters you want to import.
VS should now import the files into the timeline.

You can also copy the DVD folders from the DVD onto your harddrive and import them using the other ( Import DVD Folders ) button. You would then just navigate to where you copied the folders on your system, and then proceed..

Hello Vidoman. I have followed your instructions and transferred the little video onto my Computer using Video Studio 10. All went well but the little film is very dark on my screen. It is much darker than the video is. What could have gone wrong? It was so easy to do and yet I must have done something wrong. Thank you Irene

The footage my show darker in the preview window. That has to do with color management settings in your video card/PC. Do a test burn to a RW disk and see if it is dark on the TV also.
