Hey there,
While trying to install some plug ins for UGA5 I got the following msg
What kind of compatible program does it mean Does it mean Adobe Photoshop itself or something that is compatible with Adobe Photoshop.
Any help would be much appreciated before I go and buy something I don't need and can't really afford anyway
What it needs you to do is navigate to the plug-in folder for UGA 5. This can be found in ...\Ulead Systems\PhotoImpact\Anygif\vft_plug. Unless you have the stand-alone version of UGA 5. Then just locate the vft-plug folder to install the plug-in to.

Other programs that are "Photoshop Compatible" are PhotoImpact and Paint Shop Pro. If you have one of those, you can choose the plug-in folder for one of those.
"Photoshop compatible" means a program that can use filters designed for Photoshop.
Funny how things turn out I'm messing about trying to get the filters on to UGA5. Read some posts about other filters and was trying from them, would it work? Not on my life. Gettiin a bit cheesed of I goes to D:\Program Files\Ulead ArtTexture.Plugin\Aps, clicks on the .8bf icon, imagine my surprise when It opened UGA5, and would you believe, it works.
I should have mentioned in my post what Robert stated, about Adobe PS plug-in compatible. They are stated that way, because Adobe PS is the King of whatever, so most of the plug-ins are developed for the King. Other apps that use layering, well,... they can use them too... Anyway Ulead or Corel compatible plug-in, it just doesn't roll off the tongue right..
Just want to ask before I spoil what I've done. What exactly does this mean?
Does it mean I can only use the one plugin with UGA5. I have Particle and Fantasy Warp that I'd like to add also.
Sorry, you must think I'm a right idiot, and you'd be right not funny .
Kindest regards, Kiai x P.S. For anyone out there who, like me, doesn't always read things properly. Once installed you need to restart your computer before the filters will take effect . It does say this but I never noticed at first
What it means is the Installer will only install it to one program. However you can manually install it to others. You simply copy the Plug-in files to the Plug-in Folders of any other Photoshop Compatible programs. Generally the plug-in folders will say Plug-Ins.. The files are *.8bf

I've never had to restart my computer for the filters to show. You will have to restart the program you installed them to if it was running at the time.
You can have many plug-in filters... just one of each, as Ron noted. Most programs have an option to point to another program's filter folder to use those too. GIF Animator included... Click "File, Preferences" in GA 5:
I wonder if after all this time someone can help me. I need to re-install my plugins but I'm having problems with the Ulead ones.

I do have the stand alone version. Does this mean when I'm installing Particle plugin (for example) I install it to the vft folder or I manually move the 8bf file to the vft folder. OMG I'm so sorry but I just can't remember and this isn't making much sense.
Then do I have to go into preferences and create a path (or whatever) as below???
Cheers

I have UGA5 and I'm trying to install Particle, Fantasy Warp and Art Texture. I have managed to install other plugins like Alien Skin, Almathera and others like that. These ones I have just put in a folder called plugins, went to preferences and created a link to them in UGA5 that way. The ones I'm having problems with are proper Ulead plugins for UGA5. It's the bit about Adobe photoshop plugins that's confusing me (again). Since I've got the stand alone version of UGA5 what do I put in here (Is it the path to the vft file?)
And would I create a path in UGA5 preferences to the vft file?

If you don't have a program like PhotoImpact, Photoshop or Paint Shopt Pro on your PC, then install them just as you did the other plug-ins. If the install asks for the path to the plugins folder, use the same folder you put the others in.
Don't mess with the vft folder, that's not what it's there for.
