Well that certainly gives us a lot to go on!! (NOT!!!)

What sort of camera do you have? What are your computer specs? Was the Firewire card placed in a higher or lower slot relative to the CPU? (This can sometimes be important as far as access to resources goes...) What does 'Did what I was told' mean exactly? Did that program recognise your camera i.e. did you give it time for everything to appear on screen? Had it selected DV as the capture format (normally automatic if you have a mini DV camera attached by Firewire). Was the camera already connected and in the PLAY position when you opened VS?

In other words, we need rather more information from you before anyone can possibly offer any help...

And, while we are at it, what did you fit the IE1394 to? We can only guess.

Please fill in your sytem spec's in your profile. How? http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Did you read this?

Once you did and do as you told, you never know, it might work.

No, it ain't. Did you read the links from my previous post? Obviously not. There can be umpteen reasons for your problems. Do you expect us now to keep on asking variing details until we hit the right one? That aint gonna happen mate.

If you can't be bothered to fill in in your system data and give us some meaningfull details on the rest of it, I, for one, won't be bothered to give you another response.

newatthis -- can you go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, and look down the list to IEEE1394 Bust Host Controllers. Is there a yellow question mark beside it? What does it say when you click on the + sign? (It should say something like VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE1394 Host Controller.)

Can you also tells us exactly what you did, step by step: e.g. connected the firewire cable to both camera and computer, turned camera on the PLAY position; started VS. After a little while, VS in the Capture pane recognised the camera and showed (something like) Canon MSDV as the device and automatically selected DV as the capture format.

Also, in VS, go to File > Preferences > General. What does it show as 'Instant Playback Target'? (Mine is set to 'Preview Screen'.)

And in File > Preferences > Capture, do you have the box 'Allow access to capture device's setting' checked?
