Recently when ever I try to start DVD Workshop Express it fails:
Ulead DVD Workshop has encountered a problem and needs to close
I uninstall it and reinstalled and still I get the message. I even uninstalled the most recently installed products and still get the message. It use to work. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
DVD Workshop Express won't start
Uninstall it. Then find the directory where it was installed and delete it. Then do a search for any file related to it and delete them all; in particular, look for the .ini files in C:\Documents and Settings\... Mine is called dvdws.ini in a sub directory called ...\Ulead DVD Workshop\2.0\, but I have the full version; it may be different for the Express version. Whatever, delete it.
Now for the tricky part. Back up your registry. Download the freebie Registrar Lite from Resplendent's web site. Familiarise yourself with its powerful Search function, then search for DVDWS (at least that's what it is on my system). Select all the keys that show up and press on the red X at the bottom, selecting what it tells you gets rid of them forever (do not press the delete key). Warning: do not try to do this with WS or WS2! You may get rid of some of WindoWS!
Reboot and reinstall WS Express, but to a different directory than the one you had before. If you have it, you can then run Registry Mechanic, to make sure the registry is ± clean.

Have you installed any other video softwares or codec packs in your system? Usually Ulead products crash when start is because of some software/codec conflicts.

I'd like to first extend my thanks to both "Devil" and "htchien" for their replies to my question, thank you both. I followed Devil's advice and un-installed everything I could find related to DVD Workshop Express including folders. I then re-installed the product in a different named folder. This seems to have done the trick. Everything is working as it had previously. I even rebooted and all starts without any problems. Thanks again.
