Using a projector to view dvd

Post by petrea »

I am considering the purchase of a projector. Primary use would be to view DVD's produced using ulead.
1. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for for the best quaility or any web pages to head toward.
2. Are there any settings I should change when I burn DVD (would be connected via the computer). Now I just select burn & do not selected folders/images - should I also select those?
Thanks

It does depend on how much your budget is for a projector - if you really mean best quality then are you prepared for $5000+ or do you want something a bit more "affordable" (UK sales speak for 'cheap')

A quick 'Google' for 'Video Projectors' gave me 48,000,000 results - maybe you could find something you like among that lot.

The only reason you would normally check 'Create Folders' or 'Create Image file' is if you intend to produce more than one copy of your DVD when either of those options may be used without even opening VideoStudio.

Although having said that I have got into the habit of creating an image file anyrate and using that to burn the DVD and not burn from within the "Create Disc" module of UVS

Thanks for your response - yep I'm way cheaper than top of the line - and yes - I got so many responses by searching the web that generated my question - what are others with ulead using
Thanks for the web link - very nice.

If you intend to play from the PC to the projector, any connectable projector will do. Since it is PC based you don't even have to go through the burning stage for an ISO image or DVD folders. You can play any video file on the PC provided you have the right codecs.

right codecs

How do I ensure I have the right codecs? How do I set up? Would be migrating to my laptop from my desk top to take with me?
Do I need to play a dvd on the the laptop. I prepare on my desk top where I have all software loaded?
Am sort of confused.
Thanks

A projector is just a substitute for your monitor or a compliment. You can view and thing on your laptop that plays on its screen.

Most of the time the colors projected on the screen would be different with the colors on the monitor / LCD (yellow text would be viewable on monitor / LCD but would be difficult to be viewed on projected screen). I think color mapping over these devices should be considered.

Hope this helps.
