I'm researching editing softwares, and I'm wondering how VideoStudio 10+ compares to other Ulead products and other same price range editing softwares? Please give me your opinions and if you may, rate it in a scale of 1-10.

Thank-you.

It really would be much easier and you would learn a great deal more if you downloaded the FREE trial and saw for yourself exactly what VideoStudio 10+ has and can do

FREE trial from here :-

Look, you now had 4 posts, basically asking the same thing. Your level of confusion shows in your attempt to compare Vegas with VS.

Anyone here has their preferred editor and could rave on about it. Friends of mine have a competing brand and wouldn't look at Ulead. I have Ulead and wouldn't look at theirs, well, at least not so far.

Most people on this board use VS, I wouldn't touch it because it is too limiting for me (at least version 5 was  ). Once I switched to MSP, everything fell into place.

The best approach for you has been suggested already. Look at the comparisons availble on the ULEAD site to narrow it down by capabilities. Do the same with any other software provider you can find. Once you narrowed it down, get the trial versions and see for yourself.

Nobody here can and will do this work for you. Even if we did, would that tally with your expectations? Hell, we don't even know what you expect.

If you are looking for a program with Ulead MSP capabilities for the price of VS, dream on.

If you really want to know if UVS fits you, download the trial version and give it a shoot.

If you want to advertise Vegas (which is in a different level with UVS) by using this way, then I would say you are coming to the wrong place.

Thanks.
If you compare apples to apples then Ulead VS 10+ can do more the Vegas MovieStudio + DVD. If your talking big brothers of both, then as Heinz said, "Dream On". They don't exist.

Joe,
For high definition editing, you don't want an editor that does what Vegas does:
(1) Vegas captures HDV in the wrong format - Mpeg2 Transport Stream (.m2t files) while Video Studio 10+ captures to the right format: Mpeg2 Program Stream (.mpg files).
(2) Vegas can't edit .m2t very well and has caused lots of user complaints, while VS 10+ edits .mpg HDV quite well.
(3) Vegas can't Smart-Render high def output video files, while VS10+ can Smart-Render with excellent quality.

Thanks John, but I think you have me confused with "abcdfilm" because I'm very happy with my boxed version of VS10+. :D

Hi all

I read this thread because I'm thinking of switching to MediaStudio Pro from VideoStudio10+. I will start playing around with MSP after I return from my trip. But I have to agree with almost everything said here: video editing is like photography, it's a very personal thing and every individual has his or her own way of working. It's a matter of rolling up your sleeves, getting down and dirty with the programmes, to see which suits your working style best. Like me, I've been using Adobe Photoshop for decades and I've never looked at another graphic software, but this doesn't mean that Adobe Photoshop will suit every single person out there. It all depends on what you want, what you need, and what you prefer.

That's my two cents' worth. Thanks for listening.
