Post by uleaduser06 »

I have just found something that I can't understand. On my VideoStudio 10 Plus, I just prepared to burn some MPG videos to DVD as you can see below -

Image

Then I pressed burn, it rendered to 100% and then it began it Record on to the DVD. But 5 mintues after it was still at 0% then suddenly it came up with this -

Image

I can't burn a DVD. What can I do? I really need to burn this DVD ASAP. Please help.

operating system - Windows XP
Memory capacity - 55GB
available disk space - 5GB

Thanks.

Trevor
Could it be because I'm using a DVD+R? Or download a patch?

I have the same power calibration error problem.

I'm using TDK DVD's and have used them for more than a year on my PC with several other burning applications, so i cannot believe there should be a problem with my drive or the disks.

Could it be a bug in Videostudio, and what other steps areto be made?

Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder. Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). And during the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC). This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.

So, when you receive the "Power Calibration Error" or "Power Calibration Area full" error message, then the cause will be either be poor media, poor Power, or a defective Recorder.
*Change the blank media you are about to use. You can use the same brand. You just need to change the disk.

*If you have some hardware devices that are currently connected via USB port like compact flash card reader, removable drives, etc., then please just unplug them and close all running applications like screen saver and memory-resident applications (system monitor, anti-virus application, etc.) as they share memory and the power of your computer as well.

I have seen the below before, my question is why does every other burning software on my PC work besides ULEAS VS?

I don't know the answer to your question. My view is the same as the others, and that it is either disc or burner related.

However, have you, instead of actually burning a disc, burned either a disc image (ISO) file or DVD Folder (Video_TS) file of your project, then used another program (like Nero, which will burn either) to actually produce the disc?

When a power calibration error occurs, it will always be a hardware issue, not a software issue because it's the hardware to tell the software to show the error, not the software itself.

As to the question why only Ulead will show that error, ask the manufacturer of the device, only they can tell.

Hope this helps.
