Install C3DPS to E:?
Hi,
After a major crash, I've just done a big upgrade and rebuild of the computer. For reasons too detailed for this post, Windows has been installed onto E:.
I've reinstalled almost all my software (inc MSP8, DVDMF, VS10) - but C3DPS just won't install. When I run the installer, I just get a message in the DOS box that says: Program too big to fit in memory.
Reading between the lines of other posts, I suspect that I've struck trouble beceause there is no C: to install onto (it's a DVD burner).
Am I right? Does anybody know how to install C3DPS onto other than C: ?
Thanks,
Richard.

It will install other than C: because I install it in D:.
Please go to Microsoft Windows Update website ( http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ) and update the Windows Installer component of Windows to see if it works. The default Windows Installer component of Windows is v2.0 and is needed to be updated to v3.0 so some softwares can be installed properly.
Hope this helps.

HT,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm using a fresh (clean) WinXP install with ALL updates applied. I already have Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) installed.
Any other ideas?
Richard.

Thanks again, HT.
I've reviewed those posts/threads, but they really don't seem to describe the situation I'm in. I've had no viruses, memory is all working fine. Everything else on the PC is working fine. All apps working fine.
The more I tinker, the more I really think I've got a problem with the fact that there is (currently) no writable C: on my system. I reckon that there's probably something hard-coded into the C3DPS installer that is looking for C: - even if only as a temporary place to unpack files before installing them somewhere else.
I've pretty much talked myself into the fact that I'll just have to do (another
) clean install of Windows, but making sure that the OS gets onto C: this time, if I want to use C3DPS again (and I do). I know that I can do this as I have recovered all the files off the old (damaged) C: - so it's not lurking in the system any more.
Curiously, as I have reinstalled every other app on the machine, everything has managed with the no C: situation apart from C3DPS (installer won't run) and PhotoImpact 11 (installer runs OK, but app stalls every time when loading u32ico.fio).
[We've discussed C3DPS on this thread, and there have been a number of threads on the PI forum discussing the u32ico.fio issue. For many people, this issue seems to have revolved around allocation of administrator privileges - but I only have 1 user set up (as administrator), so that can't be the problem. One other user seems to have associated the issue with a non-C: install, and to have fixed it by re-installing Windows...]
I just wish that I had come to this conclusion last week - and that I had planned to install the Ulead apps first after the rebuild, not last!
(BTW: MSP8, DVDMF5 and VS10+ have all installed fine on the system...)
Thanks again. I'd still love to hear if anyone has a brainwave. Otherwise, next Friday night promises to be a long one...
Richard.

HT,
Well, it helps me think my hypothesis (lack of C: is the problem) is correct.
Thanks.

Well, I've done the Windows re-install, and all is running smoothly.
PI 11 reinstalled just fine this time and is running like a train.
But I'm having the smae problem with C3DPS. So I've taken the last resort step of raising a tech support request. I'll post again when it's all worked out.

With the help of Ulead Support, I have re-downloaded the product and all is working again. Not sure whether I had a corrupted file or whether it was a problem with the 'upgrade' installer. Either way, all systems now GO.
(Thanks HT for help and support.)

No. Perhaps it would have worked if I made C: a data disk (not system disk). Of course, Windows doesn't support changing the drive letter for the system disk.
