Another question about Pan & Zoom Video Filter

Post by blplhp »

In VS10+, when using the Pan & Zoom video filter, or any other video filter that utilizes the crosshair, is there any way to copy the attributes of one keyframe to another keyframe. If I set one keyframe to zoom in on a subject and I add a new keyframe a few seconds after this one and want the same settings for a short freeze or pause effect, how do I make sure the new crosshair gets in the exact same location as the previous keyframe? Since the dialog box does not come with an "x" and "y" coordinate indicator/selector box, is there a way of copying keyframe attributes from one keyframe to another keyframe? If not, I guess the only way to make sure the crosshair of a new keyframe is in the same location as the crosshair in the previous keyframe is to move the "red" crosshair over and superimpose it directly over the "white" crosshair from the previous keyframe? In the pause effect, I'm just trying to make sure that I don't get a slight jerk in the video because the two locations of the pan points are not in exactly the same location. I know this is a nit-picky question, but it all comes down to trying to produce the most professional looking video project possible with this excellent software package.

Thanks,

In the P&S keyframe dialog you can select the keyframe then right-click over it. You'll get a menu allowing you to Cut/Paste/Copy/Delete/Insert etc. In the other effect dialogs you can also Paste to All/Paste to All Right etc. The keyframe timeline in the other dialogs can also be zoomed in and out so you can easily set them with frame accuracy.

I was actually starting to add that you could copy attributes of a clip (to paste to other clips) by right clicking on the clip and choosing "Copy Attribute", but that seems to be missing from v10. Can anyone confirm this, or did I dream that it was possible in previous versions?

Terry,

Excellent!! As they say in South Florida, "muy bien". Thanks for the handy and fast tip. I will use this one quite often. I keep forgetting the old computer adage......."when in doubt, right click".

:D

I just checked VS9's timeline and there is no Copy Attribute context menu selection. AFAIK that's an MSPro feature.

AHA! I'M NOT GOING CRAZY. If you right click a clip in an overlay track you can Copy Attributes. A very handy tool. So why can't you do it in the main track?

Maybe because overlay tracks are most likely to have attributes you'd want to copy/paste?
