Do I need to install this Service Pack 1?
The DVD MovieFactory 5 Service Pack 1 is for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5. If you have purchased Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus, you do not need to install this update.

DVD MovieFactory Host Update:
  • The MovieFactory 5 Launcher now links to the Ulead Blu-ray Disc DiscRecorder (BDDR) module.
  • Import (unrendered) VideoStudio 10 project files into MovieFactory projects.
  • Support for capture cards from Canopus, Terratec, AverMedia and others.
  • Click to see full list
  • Support for Yamaha LabelFlash for burning labels directly on appropriate discs with compatible burners.
  • Optimized for Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors for faster transcoding and rendering video to DVD.
Bug Fixes:
  • Projects set up in NTSC failed to capture from PAL devices.
  • Some capture cards incorrectly split captured files into 4GB segments on NTFS partitions.
  • Widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio was not maintained on video imported from Sony DVD camcorders.
  • Chapter cues were not imported from MediaStudio Pro 8 project files inserted into MovieFactory projects.
  • Some text and customization menu settings were lost after saving and re-loading project files.
  • DVD MovieFactory sometimes encountered an error and displayed the message 争ome Chapter Entry Frame Numbers Exceed the Total Frames?when joining multiple video clips as part of a Fast Export or rendering task.
  • Some menu setting were reset when loading projects after uninstalling and reinstalling the DVD MovieFactory program under different paths.
  • DVD MovieFactory sometimes crashed during the menu or slideshow steps when 3rd party software or codecs were running.
DVD DiscRecorder Update:
  • Enhanced preview, playback and storyboard display of DVD-VR files
  • Integrate the standard Slideshow UI into DDR Module
  • Enhance capture plug-in to support a wider range of industry-standard capture devices
BD DiscRecorder (BDDR) 2.5:

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 now includes BD DiscRecorder module allowing you to:
  • Capture video from your camcorder and burn it directly to Blu-ray Disc BD-R/RE single or double layer discs.
  • Create or append video discs in BDAV format on Blu-ray Disc BD-R/RE single or double layer discs.

What should the Version be after installation. Mine is 5.0.0001.1 TBYB

Is that right?

I don't think so. How did you get yours? The TBYB extension indicates that it is a trial version. The service pack should not even work with that AFAIK.

As far as I can remember, they sent me a link to download it, as it wasn't supplied in the online purchase. It does have a registration code and no expiration date or anything, So, according to me it's a complete version.

What they are writing about? Firewire transfer referred to as 'capture card'???

Stephan,

That's an old download. Ulead updated the downloads after the original release.

Start MF5, bottom left corner choose "About ..."
It should be 5.0.0189.0 before the service pack.
And 5.0.0189.1 afterwards.

AFAIK

Yes. It is general practice to refer to the transfer of DV data via firewire as "capturing" the video, for historical reasons. Even major video companies use this term in their manuals. You never noticed?

Now how do I solve the problem that mine is 5.0.0001.1 TBYB even after running the SP1. I wrote to Support via the support form but like usual no reply after 3 days.

Did you purchase an upgrade, or just an activation key, to activate the TBYB to a full version?

1. If you purchased an upgrade, then did you uninstall the TBYB before you installed your full version? I would suggest that you uninstall the TBYB then install the upgrade.

Long history:
1. I bought the upgrade through Element (been using MF from Version 3)but the link was not working so I was sent a link and activation code manually. (For both MF5 and Content) This seems to be the TBYB
2. As you know, MF was full of problems (reported this through this forum and to Support many times) so the program was on the rack untill now that the SP came out, so I want to try again.
3. Obviously the result to the TBYB is as explained.
4. I tried to download both MF5 and Content again on Monday but the links have expired. (Rightfully so)
5. I wrote to both Ulead and Element to request a new download. (I actually have the old content file but it's been damaged by a virus) No answer from them yet.
6. I'm stuck in the mud!

Read what I wrote- the problem was with capturing from ANY source, not just capture cards. I would not call FW, onboard or not, caputure card, so this description is just misleading.

I've noticed that even descriptions of Ulead patches contain errors; fe. in PI10 pack there was problem described as "problem with Chinese characters" while it was actually problem with any non-Latin-1 characters etc, etc.

Ulead keeps "some" level of quality with everything they do...

And, hello, where's patch for VS9?

Element got me sorted out. So now I have MF5 running again. Still to see how stable it will be after the patch.

The small quantity of Templates are still unsatisfactory!
