just like the professionals...i wish!

Post by lakewud »

Hello all

So - while i sit here messing around with just what this videostudio 9 can and cannot do ( or rather what i can and cannot do with it )..am wanting to know - in easy terms please - how can i edit a few shots together but having the voice/background noice etc overlapping the other edits i do. Sorry its not explained very well. Was thinking, do i simply edit..say..3 shots/add eg flashbacks if i want..and then extended the voice track in the clip i want to overrun the other clips. Basically, i want narration but coming from a clip and not my overdubbing it.

Ok, i made that sound complicated.

Any easy method? And then what about the end result....whats the best method for the all important end product. Been reading on here ( very intresting stuff actually..learning a lot ) about how once its shown on tv's the titles and fades etc may not appear exactly where you put them....a worry? Any ideas to get me straight.

While i think about it, any way i can cut some of the wind off my movies..i know you can use echos so is this possible..tone it down a little...etc...any ideas?

Finally, honest, this caputuring thang....well ive looked and read and read some more of all the handy tips on this forum, but - call me thick - when i capture for the first time ( all seems well, just want to make sure im getting the best possible quality ) it automatically puts me on DV - is this ok? And whats this about never burning whilst your timeline is open...reading half a story as usual i know..but why?

Thanks in advance.

I'd offer this general observation to you. Making video projects for video studio is really not very different from making tv shows for Network television, something I did for 25 years. Plan your project well prior to shooting, and anticipate the problems that may arise during your shoot. Shoot your footage with editing in mind. If you're not sure about a specific set up, shoot it twice, the second version being a version you know will work as a plan B if plan A fails for some reason. Keep your editing simple and let your footage tell the story.
