Examples of your work...?
Hi,
I'm very new to video editing. Is there a place that I can see examples of other users work so I can see some possibilities by layman such as myself? That would probably be a BIG help!
thanks,
bob

Watch TV! Seriously, watch how they use cuts and fades, composites and layering, lower thirds, etc. Videomaker magazine* just had an article about the Rule of Thirds - how you should not center your subject when shooting, but have it in a third of the shot (picture a tic-tac-toe grid). And watching TV, sure enough, most is shot this way. And don't forget to listen to TV too. Commercials are especially great for all these examples. I actually find myself commenting on the production of the commercial rather than what they are trying to sell.
*A great magazine, IMHO.

This is a very interesting thread and contains information which is useful learning material for several Ulead products. I have therefore requested that it be moved into the Tutorials "General Information" Forum.

I am an average Joe (Jeff, actually) and I use TV, mostly commercials, for ideas and inspiration. I can't replicate everything I see, basically for lack of time and the limitations of the software, but it is sure fun tryingI was just looking for the "average joe" and what he could do with this program...something I can aspire to...

Help with technique
There is a UK magazine called "Digital Video Techniques" which features articles on techniques for digital video - oddly enough
I've bought the last few issues of this and it is very good. They have a cover CD on every issue with freebies like music and motion video loops, plus tutorials.
If you're not in the UK then you can subscribe - Google the name and you'll be taken to the page.
One of the nice things about the tutorials is that they use a sub-set of video editing products as examples and Video Studio 10 is included.
