VideoStudio 10+ is compatible with dual core and 64 bit.
Windows Vista is still in its Beta Development stage and last time I looked at it I wouldn't touch it with YOUR barge pole let alone mine!

Vista and ULead

Post by JoReneA »

I'm now beta testing the preRC1 Vista version and the ULead products I've loaded still have problems. The RC1 version will be almost identical, so I'm thinking ULead is going to have to do the updating, as Vista is getting close to its final form. My biggest problem is that there is no sound in the editing portion of MF4. I tried the trial version of 5, which had the same problem, as well as the trial of VS10. I don't know what the problem is, as the ULead Player (ver 2) plays the same files with sound. I think Vista is shaping up quite nicely, but if all my video editing programs won't work with it, I'm going to stick with XP. So far I haven't found any that are really compatible.

As usual with any new OS, my strategy with Vista will be a dual boot configuration so that I can smoothly transition and take advantage of the new OS without losing what I need. Same thing with Ubuntu Terry...

Try Wine and Wine Tools on Ubuntu and see what they can do for you.

For Wine, you can find it in the package installer of Ubuntu or from Wine HQ at http://www.winehq.com/

For Wine Tools, you can find it on http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/WineTools/

However, it's not guaranteed UVS can install and run properly with Wine on Linux because Linux is not in the OS support list of UVS. There will be no tech support for this case so use them on your own risk.

Hope this helps.

The idea is for Ulead to offer native Linux support ;)

IMO Vista's foibles will drive more than a few people to OSX and Linux systems.

I just saw a MacBook appeared in my office. Maybe I should consider to buy a MacBook Pro and make a Windows virtual machine in it....

BTW, I think Vista is not that bad, although there's still something weird happened in my Vista RC and I just fixed the problem....

Ulead and 64 bit

Post by Dot »

Hi all
I have used Ulead videostudio 9 and 10+, movie factory 4 and 5 all on 64 bit.
I have had no problems at all. They seem very compatible.

Problem is not only about copatibility only but also about performance (using the 64 bits architecture to render faster, with 64 bits vista and 64 bits compliant VS10+)
