I've never seen or even heard of that error before.
Some more details are needed before anything can be guessed at here:
Image size in pixels. Complete breakdown of the Optimization settings used.
Frame removal method
Operating Sytem
Total and Free RAM
Please provide that info and we'll see what we can come up with.
The only reasonable explanation is that the size (pixel area) of your animation is huge, and that many frames is compounding the problem. If the size of your project is so large that it won't fit in the workspace with all the rest of the toolbars and things, then it's too big... GA 5 is probably running out of memory...

Heinz, I would imagine jpg images were imported to make the animation... I do it often enough my self. Open a jpg or import a jpg via "add image" and animated from there... Many other file types can also be used. UFO, PSD, TIF, TGA...
I know Robert, I do the same. All I meant to say was this: If there is a problem and you don't know which file it is, try a different format. In that case .gif would be a natural choice.
We still don't know what the nature of these images really is. I just assumed there is something in there stopping the optimisation process. I suspected the conversion of color depth alone, from 24 bit RGB to possibly 256 colors indexed, could have something to do with it.
GA 5 also has been known to crash when optimizing, if the image area is very large. The cure for that is to use the "Zoom Out" tool to make the image appear teeny in the workspace, then optimize...
I dont even know what to say. I wanted to get on here and flame the crap out of heinz for his cynical little insight, but what good would that do? Obviously he doesnt exactly know what HE is doing judging by his comment about using jpegs. I suppose i could convert everyone into a gif before importing, but then why would the program allow jpegs to be imported if they didnt want it to be used. I guess this is the problem when forum bigshots dont really know what THEY are doing :\

First of all, I wasn't trying to be cynical (if I wanted to, you would know about it), secondly, "forum big shots" are nothing else but fellow users of the software trying to help others with, possibly, less experience.
