Smart-render
How do I turn off Smart-render in ulead VideoStudio in version 9 and 10. I can not find the option to turn this off in both programs. Any help would be appreciated. Please tell me where I can find these settings in the programs.

Hi Peter
Afaik Smart Render is part of the Share Create Video File and not applicable in the burner stage.
When you import a video file to the create disc window, it is best to use a video with the correct properties and size.
Doing this should not re-render the video file within the burner module.
Afaik Smart Render has more impact on the second and subsequent renders within a project.
After the first render if you edit the project again and re-render, the second render will be relatively quick, only slow during the rendering of the edited portions of your project.
So if you render a project once the smart render has little or no effect.
Closing Video Studio and opening at a later date will reset the Smart Render process.
If that makes sense, that’s how I see it.

Hit the little gear icon bottom left, and make sure you do not have a check mark in the box that says "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" This should re-encode your source files to your disc-creation settings (even if your source files are already compliant).peterrenhome wrote:Is there any way to do this when adding an imported file in the create disc in the share menu.

Hi
Afaik if your project properties and your video files are the same and compliant, then un-checking the "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" will have no effect as the video file will not re-render.
Only by selecting the Change Mpeg Settings and selecting different properties will you force a render.

Correct, if the project settings are different, and the goal is to create a disc using different mpeg settings than the source ,then unchecking that box will encode to the project settings.
There is a small catch though -- I think it used to be if the project setting had a higher video bitrate than the source mpeg, then it will not re-encode (or something like that, but maybe that changed with version 9 or 10). I would have to check that later today...
