Video Creation using 4:3 and 16:9 Formatted Video Clips

Post by ALJ »

I have video clips that were recorded in 4:3 and 16:9 formats that I would like to combine in a movie. Is there a way to convert the individual 4:3 clips to 16:9 and fill up a 16:9 screen? When I select 16:9 in the project properties, the 16:9 clips, fill up the screen, as I would expect. However, my 4:3 clips are bared on all sides: top, bottom, and sides.

If I select 4:3 in project properties, the 4:3 clips fill up the screen and the 16:9 are bared on the top and bottom, as I would expect.

I guess what I am asking is there any way to combine these clips to avoid bars so the movie looks consistant through out?. If there is a way, I would expect that one of the formats, 4:3 or 16:9 clips, will be distorted or will not have everything displayed as it will be croped out?

Thank you

Al

You can place the clip on an overlay track and stretch it out.
Bear in mind though that you would either have to make someone tall and thin or short and fat, or... crop the edges and lose some of the picture.

Hi Al

Convert your 4:3 to 16:9 render to a new file.

Have a read at 16:9 a look at widescreen
