Frames Problem
I am using the trial version of Impact 11. Still waiting for my full disc to get rid of some download problems.
Some of the features work, others don't.
I am working with frames on photos. I scanned 44 photos from my HP scanner. All scanned and saved as JPG's. All photos were scanned at the same resolution and gray scale settings. They are all about the same size and shape. They all came from the same album at the same time.
Out of the 44 photos scanned, 25 of them now have frames. The other 19, I cannot add frames - the feature is grayed out. The photos are all stored in the same folder on the hard drive. The problem photos are scattered throughout the list, that is not a certain group of photos.
Last night I tried shooting them with a digital camera at high resolution, also jpg's, and the same thing happened to the same photos. I also tried .tif and .bmp - same thing.
Anyone have any ideas as to what's happening?
I also tried re-installing the software.

Another puzzling one. If PI could not add a frame to a certain format, OK, but unable to do that to certain images of the same flavour??? Never heard of anything like that before.
Initially, I thought, hmmm, something happened at the scanning stage that makes these images different. On reading on of course, I realised that that is not the case.
Can you right click a "good" image and a "bad" image and compare the properties?

Checked some good and bad photos and did notice one difference - guess I wasn't paying attention before. The ones I checked were all JPG format, all were roughly 700x950 dimensions, all had the same date, file sizes were in the 500 to 700 kb range. The only difference I did notice was the the photos that didn't take a frame were 256 grayscale and the one that did take the frame were 24 bit color. Original photos were all black and white. I originally thought I had changed them all to grayscale. Good thing I didn't. Couldn't find anything in the help files on this subject. Any thoughts?

Opened up a grayscale image this morning, converted it to tru-color and saved it as a JPEG - lot of choices. I can now add frames and finish my project. Thanks.

PS: I downloaded the additional frames and mask from the download page. Files downloaded fine but would not install. Something else to work on today. I did not used the smart download, but used the other link provided.

As I learn more about the program it will get more use. I know I will use the frames and mask a lot during the next few months. It took me a while to come with a frame size, type and color that I wanted to use with this batch of pictures. Is there any way to save the settings so I can find it next time?
Or should I add it to the wish list.
