Hi,
What I am wanting to do is store all my smartsound CD's (and other resources) on my external USB hard drive.
When I go to 'add a folder' from within MSP8 qicktracks, and choose my USB external hard drive, I get the message: "The chosen folder is on a SmartSound CD. There is no need to add this CD to your list of sound file folders".
Is there a work-around solution to this problem?
Thanks

I still haven't found a solution.
Going by the lack of response I presume there is no solution.
I would therefore suggest that Ulead work on a fix, as more and more people will be moving to USB something.
With 8gig memory sticks - and growing, lots of external USB hard drives popping up. I would expect that software would see my hard drive as a hard drive rather than a CD.
Therefore I hope this will be addressed in a future update.

I have found the Smartsound Plugin in MSP 8.0 to be very clunky and not very user friendly when it comes to adding and managing sound libraries.
I assume by your post, that you have already installed the particular library, but have not copied the sound files to your HDD, instead running them off your thumb drive?
I would have thought it should prompt you to insert a CD when trying to select a sound you have already installed, but not copied to your HDD.
You could try to uninstall your sound libraries, and re-install (add) from the Thumb Drive.

Hi Troppo,
What I would really like is to be able to set the destination folder to the hard drive that happens to be an external USB hard drive. However, it doesn't recognise it as a hard drive, and therefore wont let me do anything like that. Have tried several times, several different alternatives. I have several smartsound CD's that I wat to safely store, and not have to shuffle through to find the correct one.
I think smartsound is a great way to go. I love it. Except for this glitch which is very very annoying.
VERY frustrating

If I install the library from the USB drive, then try to access a music file, I get the message to put the CD in the drive. It doesn't go back to were it was installed from.I assume by your post, that you have already installed the particular library

Why don't you install from the CDs and copy all sound files to HDD so all smartsounds are in your folder ready to use anytime. Then make a back up copy of your CDs and save that to wherever is a safe place? If I install the library from the USB drive, then try to access a music file, I get the message to put the CD in the drive. That way you won't have to pull out your CDs to get the particular song, as it is already all on your HDD ready to go.
