How to purge the Undo/Redo Hisory:
Undo/RedoHistory. To remove all actions in the Undo Before and Redo To submenus, select Clear Undo/Redo History from the Edit menu. This removes all actions permanently.

You can conserve additional memory by doing the following:
Turn off the Browse Cache,
Set the image display quality to low.
Close all palettes not used.
Use as small a Work Window as possible.
Shut off Auto-Save and Backup.
Turn off all external devices when booting, Scanners, Printers, and so on.

The larger your System Memory and System Cache the longer your working time. Put your Swap file on a second drive and let XP manage your memory.

You can always search the Web for a Memory Manager Program that can Flush the Memory.

Why do you need to set your undo level that high???? I usually have an undo level of 4 and could understand someone needing more levels, but 200? you should know after a couple of steps whether you like the result or not.

Puzzled

I don't know about Marc, but I do a lot of abstract painting with PI and often have 100 undo\s to try different efects and so on. I find it easier than taking a lot of snapshots (file saving between undos) since they don't save the History anyway.

I have run out of memory several times because I work with large images. I haven't found a better way yet, but hope Microsoft stops hoggin all of the memory.

I saw an article online the other day about a product that is supposed to able to flush the memory for you so you can continue to work without crashes. I may have to look into it.
