DVD MovieFactory 5 vs. VS 10+

Post by blplhp »

In VS10+, in the Share|Create Disc step, there are basically 3 modules - the first module which has the Accutrim editor and media file timeline, the second module which has the menu galleries and menu editing functions, and the third module which is the disc burning menu. Does DVD MF5 (and the newly available Plus version) have the same basic three step modules, and do they work and navigate about the same way as VS10+'s Share modules. I know DVD MF5 has more options, menus and features than VS10+, but does it work about the same way as VS10+. I am considering buying the boxed version of DVD MF5 Plus on 9/13/06 when it becomes available, and I want to anticipate if I will have much of a learning curve with DVD MF5 Plus, as I already have a pretty good handle on how to use the DVD authoring functions of creating a disc within VS10+.

Has anyone installed the "downloadable file" of DVD MF5 Plus and played around with it yet to see what beneficial improvements have been provided over DVD MF5?

Thanks,

Bryan P.

Don't know about MF5+, so can't comment.

But I have MF5 (and all versions going back to MF2). And yes, both MF and VS adopt the same steps for the burning module (and, as far as I understand it, both use the same burning engine). Indeed, the modules look essentially the same. So there should be no learning curve. Of course, as you note, MF has a few more features that VS does not have, and you will need to learn about those...

So is it worth geting MF5 if one already has VS10+? VS10+ DVD authoring is very limited. I ran a trial version of Workshop ver2 and loved it but can't afford it.

I found this comparison but its limited:
