Audio Problems with V.S. 10

Post by thoye »

Hi. Pentium 4, 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB of DDR Ram, 2 - 7200 rpm WD Hard drives, NVidia GeForce 4 MX440 (64mb) video card, standard 16 bit audio card...

I have used V.S. 10 trial version and I love it a lot... the MAIN USE will be for recording FROM my DirecTV to a stand-alone DVR, then importing into V.S. 10. When I do all of that, make my edits, etc... the audio sounds fine when playing in the Project mode, but in the clip mode it's popping and clicking and just sounds terrible. Spoke to Ulead tech support TWICE on this, they have "no answer" why. Said that if I didn't like the trial then not to buy it. Some answer huh? Does ANYONE else experience audio problems like popping and clicking? Is there ANY way to fix it? I'm ready to purchase video editing software, and I want V.S. 10, but not with audio problems. Yes, the clicking and popping ends up on the final dvd when creating a video file, then creating a disc. Help?

A stand-alone DVD recorder???

What format is the imported audio?

Try reducing the volume to 50%.
If that helps, you can try 75%, etc.

I've never had "popping", but I've noticed some distortion when importing MPEG-2 audio and converting it to Dolby AC3. Reducing the volume to 75% seems to help. I have no idea how this can happen with digital audio!
Said that if I didn't like the trial then not to buy it.
I can't agrue with that!

I've also had this problem with VideoStudio 10, and it's the only reason that I'm still hanging onto VideoStudio 8. Over here, I can't even export audio to a wave file using VS 10 without periodic ticking/popping noises surfacing.

If Ulead ever gets its act together and addresses this issue then I'll seriously consider making the purchase, as I like the newest version otherwise.
