one solution for 13011 Failed to connect to driver error

Post by HKapp »

I've been trying out DVD MF5 TBYT and received the following error when opening the capture video component:
Failed to connect to driver: Microsoft DV camera and VCR
[13011:3:3]

I'd been running my monitor at 1152 by 864.

When I changed the monitor resolution to 1024 by 768, MF5 found the camera and captured video just fine.

I see no reason that a program should be that sensitive to the monitor's resolution, by MF5 is.

Has anyone else found this?

Assuming, as you said, you only changed the resolution (and not the color depth) then one reason could be DirectX/DirectDraw video overlay issues related to the graphics driver. Especially if you have a brand new graphics card, or a really old one.
If other video software with preview works in the 1152x864 resolution, it could be a MF5 bug.

(I just mentioned this because of video overlay problems years ago that were related to the Nvidia drivers for that board, and it only worked in certain resolutions or after tweaking undocumented driver registry settings)

Yes, I only changed the resolution (and not the color depth). But VS5, MS6, and MS8 all work fine at 1152x864.

However at 1152x864 VS10 doesn't preview the picture for DV capture, just the sound. Preview does work at 1024x768. And it can capture OK at either resolution.
