Maybe because you filled it up with diesel? What are the rest of the MF5 users doing wrong since it works in PAL for them?crovie wrote:As Far as i understand my hardware is O.K
Pentium 4 ,2.6 GHz , 512 RAM - and the dmf5 does recognize the capture device - it works wonderful in NTSC mode - so why not in PAL ?
Especially When old versions support this feature (which implies that it's NOT a hardware issue at all) ! if an OLDER version of the product support PAL - There is no reason what so ever that the NEW version won't support it - it's not like PAL method is fading out from this world
As for your metaphor - I bought the car in Japan why it would not drive in Italy ???
Long Time Now - Still NO PAL SUPPORT

Please view this tutorial, it will perhaps help illustrate the point that Heinz is making about using the software that works best to capture to do the capture, and then using the latest version of MovieFactory to do the rest.
MF4: Create DVD from Hauppauge TV Card
In that tutorial I described how users having problems capturing from a Hauppauge TV card using MovieFactory 4 should instead capture with WinTV2000 and then use MovieFactory 4.
In fact I can give another similar example.
VideoStudio 9 recognises the Hauppauge TV card but VideoStudio 10+ does not. Now instead of pulling my hair out and throwing my teddy in the corner I do something more practicle.
I can either capture with VideoStudio 9 or capture with WinTV2000.
I don't care what it is I capture with provided I get a video file onto my hard drive. Once its there I can use several programs to do whatever I wish with it.
VideoStudio 9
VideoStudio 10+
Movie Factory 2
MovieFactory 4
MovieFactory 5
MediaStudio 7
MediaStudio 8
Womble MPEG Editor
Video ReDo
DVD Workshop 2
In fact I've probably got about another dozen I could add to this list.
